No, but I think it would make a great pair going down the road! That bike weighs in about 430lb range and you could get a light- weight one rail bike trailer to tow with. One of the best is Kendon. They weigh in @300lb. There are cheaper and lighter trailers that will do the job. Remember only 10% of the weight will be on the tounge. I don't know if anyone makes a hitch for the 911.

I had a hitch set-up for a motorcycle behind a VW Scirroco. It was a short single rail that left the back wheel on the ground. It worked great. You just had to be careful when cbacking up.

Harley?

Yep. You'll need a tow vehicle of some sort, might as well be something cool...

There are some guys who have towed more than that with a 911. Might take a custom hitch, but apparently they make good tow vehicles. Can't remember where I saw it though, either here, rennlist, excellence, or 911 & P world. I know that's vauge, but it's definitely possible and has been done. Take some pics of the two together for us.

I'm curious as to how your wife knew to search and find a '62 Sportster for your Christmas present. Was it a surprise?

You're a lucky man.

I found on line a "how to" article on it last year and printed it out. It's out there, just look for it.

I was considering towing my (very small) sailboat. My thoughts were to connect the tow bar thru the bumper behind the bumperettes so that any modifications would be hidden when the bumperettes were put back in their original place. Even thought a sleeved arrangement that would allow switching the tow bar for a bike rack, ski rack, ect. would be possible. The project got moved behind repairing the recently crashed sailboat.

Mike's solution looks ideal.

Here's a gadget to tow the bike around with: http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=6970&productId=332088&R=332088

May fit into the trunk when not in use as well. Northern tends to be expensive so it may be a good idea to look around for a better price.

I have a small trailer I pull with my 911 that carries my track tires and tool box. There is no factory or aftermarket hitch available for the 86 Carrera but the shop used one that mounts from the bumper shock tubes. It is stabilized with a bolted bar on the right side. No welding involved. He trimmed the rear valance a bit and you'd never really notice a hitch was mounted. I slide in the ball assembly to the receiver and off to the track. My trailer came from Northern Tool and it was really cheap I thought. 40" x 48" for $129. (assembly required.) When you wire the trailer, you'll need a "five" wire to "four' wire adapter as the brake and indicator lights for Porsche are seperate. The trailer wiring comes with it.

you do NOT need a tow vehicle for a trailer that size!

just a little ingenuity building a hitch. Walt fricke wrote an article on hitches for 911s, but I can't seem to find it right now.

Hey, it can be done..........When I was in college and racing motocross, I towed my race bike behind my MG Midget.....A light trailer is 200 Lbs, a bike like that is 400 Lbs; it's not much more than an fat girlfriend in the passenger seat......Except, the bike is more fun to ride!!!!!!!!!1

Why would you tow with your 911? Could you imagine forgetting you are towing something and take a turn a little hard, I don't think your Harley would like it.

trailer on 911

Up to 1989 there is a original factory trailer hitch available from Porsche!
Many of the factory workers even had a small rolling home behind their 911s for hollidays!
If you look in www.ebay.de (German Version) for "Anhängerkupplung Porsche 911 " they show up from time to time.

I would really like to tow my trailer with my 1936 vintage BMW racing bike behind my SC!

Sebastian
