Ruf style tach conversion
I just got my tach back from North Hollywood Speedo. The face quality is pretty good. The numbers and legends are not quite as sharp the originals, but they're close. It's nice to have the signal and brights indicators back in the right place. $115 plus shipping for the conversion.
I thought about their speedo conversion that would have the same effect, but when I move back stateside, I'll likely rotate it back upright since it won't really be necessary with no autobahns... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105227483.jpg |
That's looks sweeeet... too bad they couldn't make the start of the redline at 12 o'clock. Or is the end of the redline supposed to be at 12 o'clock like the way you have it?

I like it! What was the turnaround time?

Good question Steve. I don't know why they do it this way. What I got is exactly the same as what's pictured on their site, so I guess I didn't really look at it that closely. Maybe it's a standard template and they move the redline as required.
Here's their reply to my query about the service: The conversion of your Carrera tachometer to an 8000 RPM offset scale would amount to $ 115.00 plus shipping. The speedometer conversion would run $ 120.00. assuming that both instruments are in good working condition. The instruments dials would be reprinted and the units would be calibrated to factory specs. App. 10 days turnaround time. These procedures would have to be done by our service department. Palo Alto does the same service, but they were more expensive, can't remember how much more though. I hadn't heard that one place was any better than the other, so I went for the lower price. The online photo of exactly what I was getting was nice to have as well. |
I did the same a couple of years ago, and it helps a lot while sarving up the passes. Don't even have to look at it, your peripheral vision catches the vertical needle.
