rear wheel size for an RS conversion
I am in the planning stages of an RS conversion and am wondering what is a good size for the rear wheels.
will 16x7's fill the fenders after they are flared? or should I look at 16x8's? |
16X8 will be best. But, a true conversion would be 15X8. 16" wheels came out later. But, they look better and have more tire choices.

I think you'll need 8s to fill the fenders without spacers. Here are 15x8s with two tires:

Unless you are stuck on an original look, you can get up to 10X18's in the back. I plan to use 10X16's with 5.75" back spacing.

not so much stuck on the original look, but i just don't want to put huge tyres on the back. what about the front? if I use the 16x7's on the front and find a pair of 16x8's for the rear, what is a good combination of tyre sizes?

Lots more info in the archives, along with pics.
You can run a 16x7 in the rear but it will look a little small. 225/50 will be size tire to run. 16x8 will look great 16x9 a teensy bit better and preferred tire is a 245/45/16 on those sizes. Some put 225/50 on the 16x8. Up front 16x7's will fit with 205/55's, but can rub in certain cases. Mild rolling and negative camber will make it work. You can even put a 225/50 in the front with a 16x7, but it is a lot of work-heavy fender rolling, stiff suspension and as much negative camber as possible. 951 16x8's will also fit on the front, they are more offset to the inside, 225/50 is your tire choice. |
thanks for the info
