The ground attaches to one of the alternator studs. In order of assembly, the alternator mount studs go through the fan housing, then through the plastic air guide, then the ground strap goes on to a stud down around 8:00 (lower left looking at the face of the fan), then the nut. It's the last connection you make before squaring the fan within the housing.
