Question Any non-US drivers use these rear lenses

Just wondered as i think they would look quite nice on my red carrera !
If i used orange bulbs would they flash orange ok or would i be pulled over by the law!!?

Funny (to me) - we in the US put the European rear lenses on our non-ROW cars...

Don't think an orange bulb will flash orange - think the red lens is too dark.
just my .02

Your results will depend on how effective of a filter the red lens is, since red filters try to pass only >600nm light. If you can get a strong enough yellow-green lamp to transmit from behind it, that might combine (red light + green light => yellow) to pass as a legal indicator. There are some high-output LEDs available that might be what you need, putting them in a lamp socket is the trick but not a big problem.

It boils down to how good of a filter the tail lens really is. ( and how long it takes for a hot bulb to melt it )

The look-red/blink-orange parts have an orange lens behind a thin veneer of red to reflect ambient light. I'm glad the federalizers swapped (sold for profit) my orange/red tails and put on US-style red ones, they look much better on my red car. I'm now lusting after the clear fronts recently posted to another PP thread so I can lose the last of my orange plastic!

Just checked the clear front thread and it has a link to another thread that links to LED parts showing 1156 and 1157 amber units:

http://superbrightleds.com/1157.htm

They have a pessimistic caveat about the red lenses blocking other colors

the clear lens threads:
Looking for clear signal & side marker lenses...
Where can I get clear front marker lights?

Funny....when you see pics of RUF's test cars in Germany...he has all-red lenses ( at least for the pre 964 series....look at the road tests !!) ..

I guess it's a matter of taste, on my Guards Red Cab I swapped out the US spec. mostly red tail light lens for the Euro. Amber/red/clear lens. I like the turn sigs. better differentiated from the brake lights.

Each to our own...

If the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence,
then
the lenses are always redder or more amber on the other side of the pond.

as do I, and all of the euro lenses I put on my quattros blink orange even though they look red or smoked ( I tink dats be de law in most countries ? ). I'd rather have blink-orange signals on the SC but I've just left what der federalizers did on the car. All the same, I spent money to get rid of the ugly orange segments on the back of some of my cars as I never liked the wanna-euro look of the orange lenses.

I'll be interested to see how this turns out, I might even pull one of my rears and do some bench testing.

Too bad the orange signal lenses are *still* illegal for the US...even though more and more cars show up this way. I found out why:
- today's cars have both a portion of the orange and red as "wrap-around"...so it also qualifies as red side marker lights for the rear. The orange for the 911 lens is totally orange ( top-to-bottom) on the wrap-around...there is no red top and orange bottom, for instance....

I can't remember for sure, but it used to be in the UK that red turn signal lenses were an MOT test failure. I certainly remember swapping lenses from US spec cars that were inported into the UK. That also means if the police get in the mood, you might get stopped.

Power Sniper

I havent used this particular software as there is a lot of free ones floating around. Very handy when bidding on auctions in different time zones.

Back on topic. I have seen these for sale as a kit with bulbs in the UK think it was Design 911, they also had the clear lenses thought, also the 964 lights work and they are all red.
