jack stands and 964s
Hey everyone,
I had someone ask me a question that I couldn't answer, and honestly I can't think of a good way to do this so I thought I'd ask. How in the heck do you put a 964 on jack stands? Unlike earlier 911s where you can lift one whole side of the car with the factory jackpoint, on a 964 you have to jack each corner and use the exact location where you would need to put the jack stand. The rears are kind of doable because as long as you're careful, you can lift the rear up by the engine and put two jackstands under the rear jack points, but you still need to lift the front. Just curious if anyone had a good method for doing this. Thanks

Andrew,
It's a complete pain in the butt and dangerous to boot. A note of caution though ,it's easy to damage the hydraulic motor mounts on a 964 they're not made to hold up the car and jacking up the engine will cause the bladders to burst. Guess you'll just have to buy a lift Be Careful, Dan J

Jacking up the car by the engine is also not adviseable.

Yeah, if I didn't have access to a lift at the shop I'd probably be in big trouble. I was just hoping someone had a method for getting a 964 up onto jackstands because I couldn't come up with a good way to do it. and I was by no means saying it's a good idea to lift the car by the motor, I've only seen it done at the racetrack when there really wasn't much of a choice.
