page 971-17 bentley (carrera)

all my interior lights and trunk light went out. So i go to check the fuse, location is correct in bentley but not correct on the paper sheet that covers the fuse box cover, I might be reading it wrong. Any how, I got a red one in there (16?) when it should be yellow (5). fuse should have popped as I stuck a screw driver in the glovebox light switch and saw a spark. But instead the fuse just lost contact but was still in it's holder.
so I'm checking them all
should I take the bentley book as having all the correct ratings, there are no misprints in there? I'm not an electician and this is the only electrical thing that's happened so far.
thanks

I think the bentley I had matched the sheet in my truck for the '88.

Both my 85 and your 87 should have a 5 amp fuse ( yellow) as the first position of the second "bank" of fuses ( 10-count). Yes..correct...for interior and trunk light.

This would be the first one next to the adjacent 3-count "bank"....

If we say "first" one of the 10 count bank is 5 amp...then the "second" one is a 16A red....

Wil

PS- when I first got my car the PO also had put a 16A red where the yellow 5A should be. Almost burned the car down when a relay failed..cross-talked to the "interior" circuitry...and found a 16A fuse there where a 5A was required. $3000+ repair, new wiring harness from Germany, laid up all summer for "proper" repair.... and a new set of underwear.....
