Found Two Porsches!

Well three actually. In getting out toys for my daughter to play with, I found my stash of Hot Wheels/Matchbox cars. The best part was finding a 917 and RS. I also found a 928 and GT40. Made my day.

Those are pretty hard to find these days believe it or not. Esp the RS and RSR models that are highly sought after...-

I have pulled these out of the play-with stash. Not looking to sell them but don't want them any more abused either.

Okay so if I've got a Matchbox 1978 930 Turbo, a Hot Wheels 1974 Carerra 3.0, an unblemished Early Hood badge, and set of Early Sport Seats, can I retire?

My kids broke out my old Hotwheels collection while I was at my parents place the other day. I had that RS, but the entire body was polished (like chrome) and had some funky yellow-orange psychedelic pattern on the hood ... need to get a pic.

Cool

I have the yellow one plus a metalic silver one. The silver one is an early 930!

I believe that the silver one with the flame paint job is worth some money. I saw one go pretty high on e-fraud (ebay).

Guys, don't freak,

Only the early ones with the red line stripes on the wheels are for nutcake collectors. I think they stopped the redlines in 74 or so. The reason I got 600 for one MINT car was that it was untouched in its original track set box from 1969.

Like everything else condition is paramount and not every (read only a few) cars are worth big bucks. I am not a collector, well, of hotwheels anyway. I don't know which ones are or aren't, I just got lucky on ebay. That auction had 4 guys bid over $500 in the last 10 seconds and the final bid was $614. I got real lucky. The guy was very happy with his car as well

yeah...what dennis said...

I keep all my new ones in the packages...and I have a major anxiety attack when the girl at the checkout at K-mart just swipes them through and drops them in the bag. then throws a can of soup (or something of medium density) on top of them (not that I buy soup at K-mart)...

I love the patina on old ones....

I have that one sitting on my desk right now. A coworker gave it to me. Unfortunately it looks like someone played with it in a sandbox, so it's probably not worth anything. But the "flames" are intact.

i had that RS as a boy (still childish today but....) and that was what started my love of the 911. that and the cool 20 something guy down the street that had a real one. a silver longhood, i forget the year. considering it was the early 70's i bet it was a short wheel base unit.
