eric.......trust me, tim knows of life on the track and what happens if a car is damaged on one.
his dad runs the local bmw driving school, they're a whole family of racers, good people. tim's mom calls him "tire wall timmy" due to when he slid his turbo talon off at nelsons ledges in the rain.......twice....in the same spot LOL that was a fun day :D |
Does side-swiping him means the GT3 hit him with the porsche's side at the turn in?
From the photos one might infer that the damage done to the GT3 was by the BMW's driver side rear bumper as both cars were turning left at the end of the straight. If so then the GT3 driver misjudged the turn in and seems to be responsible for the accident |

I think passing on the left is illegal in Europe. Also, the overtaking car has the responsibility to maneuver safely. No question the GT3 is at fault. |
Passing on the left may be illegal in England but certainly not Europe.

Old saying, "don't race a car if you can't afford to push it off a cliff". Maybe the same applies to the ring, just to a lesser extent.
I will still jump at a chance to drive the ring, if it ever happens which is not likely. |
Passing on the right in Germany certainly is a no-no. I tried it once on the autoban with my German girlfriend. As I approached the slow car on my left, she freaked like I was going to go off a cliff. Those Germans do like their rules.
But then it makes driving fast on the autoban much safer. My sister and her hubby once covered 450 miles in exactly 3 hours in the Porsche they had just picked up in Stuttgart. I should note that her husband is experienced at racing Porsches at the top level, as well as off-road in races like the Mint and the Baja, etc. Speaking of passing, when you race off road and you want to pass, its too loud for a horn, and the dust cloud makes you invisible to the guy in front, so you drive into the cloud and tap his rear at 90 mph. That'll hold your concentration. |
