Photoshoppers - can you put these wheels on this car?

I don't have Photoshop or a decent substitute. Can somebody do a quick trial fit of these? Thanks.

Minilites are nice - Fuchs are better!

Thumbs up

Personal opinion....
Some cars look better with different wheels, however I have always thought that 911's and BMW's need to have o/e wheels from the period of their manufacture. Fuchs are the right wheels for THAT CAR
$0.02 cents paid....that said...hey it's your car.

daka,
those minilites aren't O/E, but they are period correct. They were used by many 911's and I've seen a few ST's with them as well.

MMM Minilites... I think you should get them. But the end decision is up to you.

Yes, it is... but it's not mine! Just very similar. I haven't taken a full side view of mine yet.

I love the original Fuchs, but it seems like it's going to cost $1200 to get a very nice set. These will run $600 for the set, be period correct and a little different. I haven't made up my mind yet. Honestly what I'd really like are a nice set of chromed steel wheels with hub caps. I really like that look.

I love that color! I think your car needs a different type of wheel than the std fuchs. Here is why. Tangerine is a bright color. Combined with the simple early car shape and the bright trim work a black centered Fuchs wheel will get lost on the car. A bright silver Minilite or chrome Steelies would look much better. If you do a search there are a few companies that can make a wider steel wheel to fit your car. It just requires cutting out the centers and welding them on wider rim sections. Your point on price is well taken.

FWIW, I love the look of the steels on this period of 911. It's just so "classic," but my guess is that you want more width for wider rubber (?). If so, I'd go with Fuchs, and go all anodized. I think the no black and smooth satin look of all-anodized Fuchs look marvelous on any car, but even more attractive on the earlier 911s...if you're asking for opinions, that is.

Yeah, I think it's the brightness of the Superlites (and chromed steel) that I like on the Tangerine car.

$600 for a set is so tempting...

I don't want to hijack your thread, but does anyone know of a source for aftermarket chromed steel wheels? I agree with you and love the look of the steelies with hubcaps. I bought a set planning to get them re-chromed before i found out that chroming costs a gazillion bucks.

$170 for a new wheel (the 'superlights') seems almost worryingly cheap. Has anyone had experience w/ them? How heavy are they ? (I can't seem to open the pdf files on their website)

Looks like a bit under 19 pounds for 15x6. I sent e-mail asking about them being "engineered for race and road conditions." I'll post the answer if/when I get one.

LeeH--
Can't help with the steel wheels, but if you do go that route, I've got hub caps and hand painted crests for them that I did myself:
