Chillin the IC
I've wondered if anyone has made a chiller for their IC's? I know there are some mist sytems that blow water on the face of the IC but has anyone ever made a jacket that circulated a coolant? I'm thinking of building such a system but would gladly buy one if there is one out there. And would there be a significant advantage to the idea anyway? I've seen some information on induction temps and what they can add to hp but lost the article years ago. Anyone have any ideas on this subject?

Sounds like you want a liquid to air core. You can buy these premade. On a 911 it would be annoying to build and find room for the cooling system.

My first thought is that if you're going to build a water-circulation system, including a radiator, pump, etc., then why not just go to an efficient air-water intercooler?
Having said that, if you're interested in mister systems, this is common in the 300ZX and Supra Turbo world, and there are some good how-tos on their boards. You might try twinturbo.net for ideas. |
Actually I was thinking of putting it in the back seat area. I have a shelf that sits over the rear seats that has my speakers mounted to it. It has room for what I was thinking of doing. I was going to get a little 12v pump an insulated big ass beer cooler and circulate ice water through it to small copper line wrapping the IC. Any thoughts?

no offence but sounds heavy and I don't know if it would do much for long, how about just a bigger intercooler instead... ?

Wonder if that tank could blow up in a wreck........ |
I'd put the 5" X 16 " frame up in the tail on the IC and I guess the bottle in the front....

I say use a sprayer like what seine offers. Mount mini water cooler in back and pump water out of that. During events, dump ice and water and away you go. That's what the subadube boys and girls are doing (not that it means crap). I also saw this type of system on a porsche race car that was at S_CAR_GO racing except he had a big ice chest that he pumped the fluid out of.
