Them Duke boys would be proud...

... I reckon...

I decided to remove the hood latching mechs so I could run bars from the side hoop of my cage into the trunk, and I wanted them somewhat symmetrical and placed a little higher. I thought about doing the rubber tie down, but that's really an earlier look.

Yeee-haw! Damn, now where'd Daisy git to?

Cool Thom! Check out the hood fasteners in this pic...taken by me around 1971, of a retired race car at an autocross:

Hmm I guess they're not as 'redneck' as I thought they were. For $10, I don't think it was a bad deal at all, though I spent another $3 for better pins and a couple washers.

Hoot! The '67 "S" (wink-wink) in the pic....a factory prepped race car, sent out before they made the 911R. Evidently, somebody watched Dukes of Hazzard before it hit the airwaves?

I'm pretty certain that the General didn't have hood hold down pins.
Yes, I am a loser.

If the General had pins.....it might have been a very uncomfortable hood slide.

Anybody really know how many "generals" there actually were? I cry...thinking of how much vintage iron was destroyed making a dumbass TV show.

I just heard how many were destroyed the other day... I think it was like 75 vehicles (totalled!) or so over the life of the series...

The remaining cars that survived the show once it was cancelled were donated to the dodge charger registry by Warner Bros. I think the avg was 3 cars totalled per show. Now let's all sit back and see just how well Jessica Simpson can make those cut off shorts look. The "Movie" ...Yep .. The Movie will be out later this year. Stiffler from American Pie is Bo and Johnny Knoxsville from jackass is Luke. If my memory serves me, I think Willie Nelson was to be Boss Hogg. I like Jessica S. but I think Catherine bach had a better body.

The number of cars destroyed exceeds 300. Thankfully none of which were Hemi cars. The biggest motor used for filming was a 440 Big Block. Most were only 318 cars.

thom you may want to look into the sparco hood latches, i've use hood pins for years and i don't care how carefull you are the removable pin style will catch you off guard and you'll scratch your 911, sometimes really bad
i'm using them on the rear for my fiberglass tail.

From the thread title, I was wondering how you'd managed to weld your fibreglass doors shut.

I use hood pins on the hood and decklid. I had a set of rubber latches come open on the hood. No safety catch but it stayed closed. No worries now.

Is this the look you were going for?

By the way, how much lighter would your car be if'n you put helium in the tires?

I am guessing she can pull it off.

she's hot - but when it comes to playing the role of Daisy Duke the original was hotter... back in the day of course. I was in New Orleans on business last week and they had some of the roads closed for the filming of the movie. Never got a glimpse of Daisy OR The General Lee.
