Sorry about that.. there is an 83 turbo slant cab on Ebay the owner says is a Canadian model.

I believe so, but hopefully an expert will chime in. I do know that the period in which the turbos were not imported to the US, they were still available in Canada, eh.

If this is true, that settles it. 930s were not imported into the U.S.A. from the 1980-1985 M.Y.

Yes, I believe you could still get one here, just not 100% sure.

Red book shows 65 turbos exported to Canada in 1983.

This one? If it is, I don't think they made cabriolet 930's until later in the 80's, I don't remember the year. Also judging by the VIN number, it is not a 930 VIN, it comes up as an SC cabriolet VIN.

This is the link I used for the VIN info. http://www.adelgigs.com/911vin%20numbers.shtml

1986 was the first year of the turbo cab.

- apparently the more obtainable the more desirable.

Actually, no, they were first built during the 1988 M.Y. if memory serves. (Sometimes it doesn't). But definitely not '86, maybe/maybe '87, but I'm pretty sure '88.

I was working at a Porsche dealer at the time.

Err...is that boost gauge pegged @ 1.8 bar? Can you say "broken rings"??

You better hope it's "absolute pressure" gauge...

1986 was the first year for the turbo cab and turbo targa. they may not have been imported to the U.S.

It's a 911SC or Carrea, I believe. The VIN, WP0EA0915DS170749, is not indicative of a 930 for that period. The VIN for an '83 930 should read, WP0EA093ZDSXXXXXX, where "X" is the sequential serial number.
This chassis with a turbo engine should be labled, "twist-o-flex". Porsche stiffened the soft-tops chassis destined for turbos in the mid '80's.

Buyer beware! No where in the ad does it state it is a FACTORY slantnose. Furthermore, the boxed rockers don't have a jack access plug...dead giveaway of a fake. The area under the bonnet should have special carpeting that covers the headlight arms....not there either.

The sellers got more stories than a retial stock broker.
