I can't believe what I am reading..... ! ! !

This isn't exactly Technical, except that this is technically DISHONEST.

I will let you decide, look at the pictures, and read the description.....am I off-base here, am I missing something?

Quoted from EBay: "....Perfect car for the racer. A Perfect body completed long ago is ready for final finishing. After extensively reconditioning this never been wrecked body including brand new factory fenders and a new suspension pan we were ready to roll this car into our paint shop for final finishing when the customer ran out of money! We purchased the car from him and have just not had time to finish it so it has accumulated a little easily cleaner surface rust..."

...perhaps at "Bubba's dirt track emporium and re-tread restoration house" that's ready to paint...

At least there are pictures, lol. Can you imagine if you bought it sight unseen and THAT showed up in the transport?!

Must be one of those 199.00 Econo jobs I have heard about where they paint over dirt, gime, RUST etc. Really though with a good 10-12 grand paint job this thing should be worth several hundred dollars.;)

Looks like it comes with one of those 'hard to find' 1965-1966 wide-5 small slot VW wheels. I should buy this car just to add that wheel to the stack of 1965-1966 wide-5 small slot wheels in my back yard...

Unfortunately, this probably hasn't all been true since about '66. (sigh)

looks like that guy was really lucky to have run out of money if he was dealing with those guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Por_sha911 01-15-2005 08:22 AM

That is "surface rust" like a nuclear bomb would be a small explosion.
Notice that someone actually bid $100 on it but the reserve is not met! That seller needs to take the 100 and run!

campbellcj 01-15-2005 08:33 AM

Gotta love how the floorpans were WET when they shot the ebay pics...genius marketing!

jester911 01-15-2005 08:34 AM

The guy selling this thing is local to me. It is automobile atlanta here in Marietta. He sells mostly 914 stuff but he has been known to be a bit on the shady side to say the least.

asphaltgambler 01-15-2005 08:43 AM

They call that a new race car in West Va.

Got to love Treadway. This one was posted a little while ago.

rcwaldo 01-15-2005 09:16 AM

You guys are missing the point, its a race car that will get lighter with time. The more you drive it, the lighter it gets:)
