Is his insurance company ready to pay for some innocent bystander's wheelchair?
Keep it on the track where it belongs.

Pink slips....
For the risk there should be a reward. Easy for me to say having almost been killed now by two chuckle heads in the last few months on public roads. |

I assume you're talking about the 2 door. 0 - 60 is 6 seconds for the coupe. I think you can beat it.

What!? Why isn't he ready? I bought my 84 coupe and took it right to the track (after full mech inspection, of course). Stock everything, sport seats with standard 3pt belts.
HPDE's are controlled and safe. Rent to HOT LAPS and go! Time will tell... Don't do it on an open street, the ticket will be close to an HPDE registration fee... :-o He may have 300hp, but he's also got 3500lbs to deal with... Go get 'em! Jojo

Don't knock on the G35 coupe, it's a great car for the money. Anyway, take the racing to the track

My cousin has one, VERY nice car indeed and pretty quick for what it is (luxo psuedo sportscar). But I'd put my pinks up against a stock one anyday, ofcourse I'm pushing about 2300 lbs with a 3.6

Concur with Amir. I'm seriously considering one as a replacement for my wife's '93 VW Corrado (but I'm keeping the VW for myself). It's a really nice car, great looking and the performance is pretty good. Oh, and it has a back seat (350Z does not).
Comparing it to a BMW 330i, it's quite a bargain with 60 more HP and lots of the features that are optional on the Bimmer. The out the door price for this thing is the same as the starting price for the 330. Infinitis seem to hold their value fairly well also. They don't make too many of the 6spd coupes, so that helps. Should be a fairly safe race for you though.

I played with one this weekend. Lost him rather quickly, open 3 lane highway. Could be the driver lacked the "pits" but the 911 sure seemed more nimble.
By the way, Bigrubber.....same car as yours. Disclaimer: I in no way condone racing of any type on public roads. I was merely entering traffic at a rather quick rate.

Tell him that you fail to see the point of it.
Racing has nothing to do with the drivers until you go into a corner. You can't dive into the corners on the street. If he is worried about the non-driver part of the car then show him the math. (hmmm, lots-o-weight and a bit more power...) Also tell him (here is the "goad him with a stick" bit) that when he is ready to 'sack up' and go to the track that he should get comfortable with the car on the track and then you will bet him that you can do 2 seconds on the minute quicker then him when you drive his car! (Hey, if you are going to talk smack, really smack him with it!) He will either shut up or his mouth will uncontrollably spew all sorts of entertaining words. Wayne

I wouldn't be too cocky. In straight line accelleration he just might beat you. Keep in mind a stock 3.2 non turbo look in the right hands on a good day and thrashing the tranny is only going to run 0-60 in 5.6- 6.0 seconds. You are carrying more weight with the turbo look and you have more wind resistance. Get him on the track.

I'd make him feel like a sissy.. tease him and MAKE him go to the track I think he's scared because on the track he KNOWS you will get him..
Just bust his chops until he says OK.. Eric

Offer this:
10 laps around a track. Winner takes the other vehicle. There is almost NO other vehicle made that can 'beat' your 911.

Many cities in CA confiscate cars involved in street racing. Big Rubber, how old are you that you'd even consider this?
