245-50-15 tires
Hoosiers and Dunlop 8000s are the only tires I've found in this size and feel lucky that the 8000s also come in 225-50-15.
Am thinking of putting 8x9x15 Fuchs on the 84 Targa, but the old Comp T/A's on them now will only last another few thousand miles. Questions: reviews of the 8000s are not quite stellar and I will probably be disappointed with them after running Pilot SXs and Victoracers both on 17" Cup IIs. Has anyone used the 8000s and can recommend them? Is there any other solution, including buying tires overseas? the end result is I need a great tire combo in 225/50 front and 245/50 rear.

Shaun-Ive run 8000's on both my 911 and on the M5 before that. They're not "bad" but compared to Victoracers, well,... two different worlds. The 8000's have a very nice ride for a performance tire, and decent stick, not great, but are less sharp than most modern high end tires, and can be slightly evil in the wet despite their open tread. A good 7-8/10ths tire-if that's how you drive, they're fine (and face it, much of our street driving is like that).
Just looked at your address-forget em unless you have a winter beater, spun the M5 in 2 in of snow at 30 mph on 8000's and have been shy in the snow since.

Thanks Greg. I am running the Victoracers now which are pretty close to slicks. the first 2 minutes of driving they skitter across a cold road, but warm up fast. I also watch the weather... no rain or snow for these devils. the Jeep gets me through the snow, but as soon as the roads are clear (it was 60 here yesterday so ALL snow and ice are gone), it's back on the road.
Based on your experience, I think I'll be mighty unhappy with 8000s. If the only other tire available in this size, the Hoosiers, were cheaper, I'd just go with a grooved set, but they are pricey. Thanks for your help.

The 8000 is an okay tire. Pretty old tech now though. I have run them on a few cars in the past, I see the performance probably akin to maybe a Yoko es100 perhaps? Can't really compare any street tire to a DOT competion tire though.

Thanks Jeff, I think I'll wear out the Comp T/As and go from there. I've had AVS 100s on my 9000 Turbo and liked them a lot. maybe worth the experiment.

I wonder if I can use any of these:
http://www.racegoodyear.com/products/sportscar.html If I could get at least 5000 miles out of a set of rears, they may be worthwhile.
