Time for Serious Re-wire
I bought this 82 SC Targa with this Juck Yard wiring. and is making me sick..!

Yup, looks like you car could use an electrical enema. Time to get yourself a Bentley manual and begin the operation.

Can anyone tell me why I have a solid copper wire with white insulation running from the dachboard via tunnel towards the back of the car?

Actually, that's for your A/C thermostat. It's not actually a wire, but a tube with a small amount of freon in it. It goes from the evaporator to the temperature control in your center console.

once you get rid of the extra wiring from the old radio, alarm, amps, speakers, etc, things will look easier. you may not have too many repairs to make. aftermarket wiring is easy to spot.
