Brand new 9 x 16's from WE!

I broke down and bought some brand spankin' new 9 x 16 Fuchs from Wheel Enhancement. Paid a pretty penny too - $1700 for the pair. But, I wanted a top condition pair and I'm not patient enough to wait for some to come along whenever. They also have brand new 8 x 16 for $825 each! What a rip when you can get the 9's for $25 more. Anyway, before they arrived today, I had never seen a brand new Fuchs wheel. NICE!

Wow- those are sweet! They're not that much cheaper used, and probably better quality (lighter & stronger) than 98% of the contemporary design rims out there.

Are these from an existing inventory, or are Fuchs wheels still being made? If they are still being made, does anybody know any details (who, where, what sizes, etc)

Thanks!

Hope you don't over polish, I like the satin shine. On my 87 they have a little white film (dry look) after wipeing down with petro jelly, I must say they look almost as good.
What size tire and type will get the honors?

No polishing for these. I've always liked the original finish the best of all possible finishes. Tires are Kumho 712's in a 245/45.

The car currently has 6 & 7, so the 7's are moving up front after they get refinished to look like the 9's.

Do you have a pic of the production date of those 9's?
Thanks,

I have 205/zr55/16 up front and 225/zr50/16 rear pirelli p7000, need new rubber for the back but you know, they just don't make the 225/zr50/16 any more.
Anybody know of some reserved stock?
Not sure if I have 6-7's or 7-8's the rear have an angeled flair, and the 225 sit nice.

Considering how much new wheels cost nowadays, $850 each for those is a decent price.

Is the production date stamped on the back? Other than the part number and the size stamps, between the other spokes there is a "3", a "FCO" and what appears to be "0602" on one and "0902" on the other. I don't find any other markings.

The Fuchs factory still makes 9x16's, 8x16's & possibly 7x16's (someone in the local PCA was selling 7's dated a couple years back. Dave- I assume those numbers are the 6th & 9th week of 2002.

Those would be the production dates, I believe. And that answers the question about whether they still make them, at least as of '02.

Amazing they're still making the wheels 13 years after the last car to use them went out of production!

From what I heard, Fuch made a final run of 9's in 2000, but from your production stamps, looks like that's not the case. A few years ago Porsche NA was clearing out all their 9X16 inventory; WE bought all of them, except for a pair I managed to squeeze out of the Atlanta warehouse; you won't believe the price.
Regards,
J.P.

New Wheels

Nice Wheels. You took the same road i did a couple years back. I went to my Porsche dealer and bugged them at the parts counter till i got the price down to 1500.00. At the time a used set was selling for 1200.00 and with a few free scraches thrown in. You did the smart thing.

Good Lord, time to invest in Fuch futures! I bought mine about 2 years ago for about $900. I can't believe they have doubled in price since then. If your patient, I think they still can be found (Ebay, Pano, Rennlist) for around $1000. I like them, but for the same price, I would take a lighter, bigger (Fikse 17"), 3 piece wheel. The best part of 9 x 16" fuchs was that they were a nice wheel for the money, but those time seem to have gone bye bye.
