I am in the middle of this myself.....wow, can you say messy!
I noticed the torn boot when doing routine gear oil change and took the axle off. I used a spray can of parts cleaner/brake cleaner and was able to remove 100% of the grease to inspect for wear. While I did not intend it, the balls did come out creating a challance to reasemble but I now have a much better idea of how these darn things work. Also, since one was torn, I assmued the other 3 were ready to go so I pulled the other side. I re-packed them with a semi-synthetic grease. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1106006826.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1106006848.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1106006867.jpg |
