911 R Tail Light Kit Installed
I just purchased and installed the 911 Tail Light Kit sold by Pelican. It is made by AR Concepts. The install was very simple and straigt forward and I must say that the quality and fit are outstanding. Mike Swanson, who is, I gather from emails, owner of AR Concepts was also helpful via email when I had questions. He had done the wiring for me in advance as a favor because I had to wait for delivery. He tells me he is willing to do this for anyone for an extra $30 which really seems like a deal and is very professionally done. His email is:
ar_concepts@hotmail.com and I would email him as soon as you order so that he'll know to do it. There is also an existing web page: http://rennlight.com/howto/911r/index.html which shows and explains the whole process incl. wire color codes. I took the pic below to illustrate the excellent fit of the unit. The car heads to the paint shop for a full repaint this week. I'll post pics again when it's out. When removing my old buckets I saw all the dirt and crud from 20+ years of wheel splash so I did coat the back of the metal plates (which hold the bulb fixtures and ground contact) with a layer of silicone to prevent corrosion and loss of good ground contact. Once painted I will also glue or epoxy these to the fiberglass unit so that bulbs can be changed w/o removing the whole unit from the car. As it is now, the screws that hold on the lenses also hold the metal plates snugly against the fiberglass. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1105924353.jpg |
How about a pic showing the "fit" of the entire fibergalss piece?

Thanks again!

What were the total damages ($$$) ?
|
For my install, just what Pelican lists for the parts plus a few connectors from local parts store to mate up with parts supplied.
|
How about A picture of the whole rear showing both lights. Thanks
|

OK...Here's a pic of them both installed. Likely will be a month before paint is done and I can post better pics then. BTW, that drip pan used to be under my old Mil. jeep...;-)

Is the red light a dual filiment bulb, running light and brake light? What about the yelow one, dingle or dual?
Thanks, Jeff |
Four bulbs total in each side....two per lens. None are dual filament. Five wires incl a ground. Check that web site I gave in the original post for a pic of the unit being installed. It is one supplied by TRE but is essentially the same configuration. It will give you a good overall view of the parts and how to install. AR Concepts' units, however, come with brackets which attach to original screw holes in the fender where OEM light bucket is attached.. which keeps you from having to drill metal. Very clean.
