My Carrera 3.0

Here are just a couple pics of my carrera 3.0.
Yes! it still has its 3.0 engine. It is the original paint. I enjoy trying to understand the owners manual in german; in between drives around connecticut in the dead of winter. Anyway enjoy the pics.

Welcome to the C3 fraternity! Great looking car.

What are the details? What are you plans with the car?

In any case, enjoy...

I just dropped my C3 engine and completing work...what type of exhaust do you have on it...I am replacing mine, but haven't decided yet between going with Bursch Headers or exchangers...

Sweet car!

I used SSI's when I had the stock C3 engine, they exaggerated the already present cam effect above 4k. A very nice addition because there was no loss of torque lower down.

Beautiful. I always love to see a great example of the C3!

Sorry Nick, the thought hadn't even entered my mind. I've spent too much time and money getting here and am enjoying it too much in any case!

I thought tails (early Turbo tail?)were standard on these cars...could they be deleted from the factory?

MC,
Just in case there is some part of the German manual you are dying to translate (and not just get an English version), let me know. A friend of mine is from there. My German market 85 cab still had the original small tag on the visor with instructions in German for lowering/raising the top. It was great fun having him translate it line by line.

Read a great article on the Carrera 3.0 from 1977 MOTOR mag
UK publication .

Driver test drove over 14,000 miles and raved about the motor.
although he did whinge about electrics , alternator failed after three days :(

Will scan in and post it here . Anybody have an opinion on whether an early SC with
a Carrera 3.0 engine would be better than a stock Carrera 3?

The car was available as Carrera 3.0 and 3.0S .The S had wider tyres and a tail .

1977 prices in the UK C3 14,000 pounds
C3 sport 15000 pounds .
Ferrari 308 t4 £12,496 Aston Martin v8 £ 16,999
BMW 633 CSI £14,799 jAGUAR XJS £ 13,200

Would love to see the article.

From what I've read I think a stock Carrera 3 would be better, lighter than an early SC and has un-assisted brakes (better feel for racing).

Depending on what you want to use it for there may be other advantages/disadvantages. Here in Oz a Carrera 3 qualifies for historic circuit racing, but the cut off is 1977, so an SC doesn’t. An SC would also be in a different category for rallying (again a ‘77 cut off).
