Merry Christmas/Laguna-Seca

Just got back from a track day at Laguna-Seca, which was a Christmas present from my wife and kids. Car ran flawlessly, drove it to the track, drove it hard at the track, and drove it home. Sunny and only maybe +-30 cars total, prety much perfect.

Yeah, I wasn't very fast, compared to the newer vehicles on the track, nothing like 1966 technology (+-2min 10sec. laps) but tons of fun

What was the event? It is funny to see the ruts at the corkscrew in the off. It's much nicer manicured at the Historics. Great looking car.

Derek,

I looked everywhere for the Gulf sticker, and finally found these two at this years Monterey Historics, at a vendor who sells only stickers and patches. They only had two? This probably does'nt help you, and I have no idea why they seem to be hard to find. Maybe someone else can chime in on this, as I would like to get a couple more, carefully removed these two when I got home today and stuck them to the back of an action packer for future use.

Patrick,

The event was hosted by TrackQuest, my first time driving with them, a little on the expensive side, but well organized, professional and about all the track time I could handle in one day.

As for the ruts, they warned us that driving off track at this time of year is, uh, not good, more like mini canyons than ruts, I guess thats what happens after 10 to 15 inches of rain.

You seem to have some pretty good suspension on that car. Care to comment? Looks good.

Milt,

Suspension is pretty much as it came from the factory,Probably just looks flat because I'm going sooo slooow. It does have new Bilstein sport shocks, standard torsion bars, factory 13mm front sway bar, no rear sway bar, lowered and running -1.75 neg. camber front and -3 neg. camber in the rear, -.75 front tow in for stability, seemed to work, car was stable at speed. Overall pretty happy with the setup. What needs work is the feel of the braking, not so much the actual stopping power, but the feel of the pedal. I did'nt have a confident feeling coming out of the main straight into turn 2. Fairly new master cylinder, although it is the early single circuit type, not sure if the later dual circuit would change the feel of the pedal?

Matt
