New front fender repair panel source
 

My 73 has the usual rust at the lower rear of the fender in that odd double layered section. I have gotten both fenders off and was not looking forward to putting extensive patches in there. I had looked on our hosts site as well as all the usual sources for a replacement panel for this area to no avail. I found yesterday a site for wolf steel in Vermont with exactly the correct piece, talked to the owner today and both sides are on the way. He mentioned that he was not getting many hits on this and I suggested he A)work with a net guru to make sure google picks up on key words and B) that he contact Wayne here to see about listing. This seems to be a very frequent rust spot and I was ticked to death to find this piece. Any body else dealt with these guys? Fantastic resource! That is a highly needed section. I can think of RSR filler sections, replacement seat pans, rear decks, lower latch panel repair and a few other sections.

As the guys web site says he will use a rusted out section as a template and try and meet the needs of the Porsche community like he obviously has for the Alfa and BMW group. I did rec he call Wayne and I emailed Wayne to see about listing his stuff in the catalogue.

These pieces came in and I am pretty impressed. Seems well formed, pretty obviously by hand but with good finish and match to the originals. I decided to let my bodyshop do the honors as my welding and paint skills are not up to a very high level and they too like the material. We did have to test fit the pieces in as the reinforcing plate can be tricky to match up. Overall VERY much worth the $75 per side. I have completed the rust repairs on the inner fender(out of site so my ugly welding will not be viewed except by the next owner!) and hope to get these and my new GT Racing IROC fender on in the next couple of weeks. I am surprised that you don't also have rust on horizontal top of fender aft of gas tank filler.

That 4Runner quarter panel would have been very usefull a couple of years ago...

Don, luckily there was only surface rust there, but a 2x4 cm thru and thru rust hole centered around the gas filler release cable !. I welded a patch in there and still need to drill it to accept the cable I am going with the thicker cowl/fender seals and someone mentioned a good coating of Vaseline to these (no snickers from the gallery)
