A kind a cool story

I changed banks recently and every time I went thru the drive up I noticed the modern 911 sitting in the back corner of the bank parking lot, yea those bankers get all the great toys huh?

Over time I had gotten friendly with the branch vp and when sitting in her office today I mentioned that I was looking to buy Porsche in the near future.

Now every time I have come into this bank, there has been a very polite off duty armed cop standing in the corner keeping the peace. When I mentioned "Porsche" to the banker, she said, "you need to talk to him then" and pointed at the cop. I was shocked to learn the the 2006 C4 in the back lot belonged to the cop.
We talked cars for a while and I asked how fast he had been in his car, when he said "130" the banker got a look on her face and said "hey, you cant do that, that's against the law!" Yea, right.

This cop really has the bug. Already has plans for trading in the 2006 for a 2012 in the near future. And no, I didn't ask where a cop gets the money to buy a 2012 Porsche, that's none of my beeswax. And besides he was wearing a gun!..gary

Not sure where you live but here in CA cops making $125,000 a year is very common. I bought a brand new 993 coupe in '96 for my wife and paid cash. Just saying.....

Was it a cop or security guard. If the latter and an older gent, this could be a "retirement" job for him.

At the local grocery store I frequent, there's an employee who was a banker in his prime...he just wasn't ready to stop working and with this job keeps busy, meets people, and has some pocket change plus benefits.

Point being - you really can't judge a book from it's cover.

But it is a cool story - thanks for sharing!

No, the guy was really nice, I didn't mean to disparage the officer or the profession, I am glad they are around. Where I came from it seems the jobs where people help other people always pay lousy. Policemen, Firemen and Teachers are very underpaid in smalltown Indiana.
