question about leather dash cover...

i started to take the leather cover of the dash in my car since it was already falling off, i got most of it off and the dash underneth looks pretty good...now for the question, i cant get it all off and i imagine it would be easier to take off if the dash was off. i know that taking the dash apart requires removing the windshield, but does anyone know of an easier way to remove all of the leather cover without removing the entire dash? its glued which makes it kind of a pain to remove the leather, but i just want the stuff gone and would like to do it without removing the dash...any help would be greatly appreciated

thanks

maybe a heat gun to soften the glue and a Xacto knife to trim around the edges. (xacto, xmas, xtians, hmmmm).

I tore off all of the brown leather and managed to get 99% of it using patience, utility knife, and needle nose pliers. The hardest part was the around the defrost vents and gauges. Make a small starter tear in the leather with the knive and then pull along that line with the pliers. Mine tore right along that line for a few inches, over and over, etc. In some places you can hide any residual by pushing it into a crack or crease. I would think to make it look great, it would require the windshield out.
