Sharing my winter projects
 

Well, let me start by saying thank you to all the great people here who contribute their seemingly infinite knowledge about these awesome cars. A year ago I bought my first 911, and it's been one of the greatest (and most expensive) experiences in my life. I'm tackling jobs on this car that I never thought I could possibly do. Oh yeah, I've got the bug........that virus......can't stop spending $$$ on this car. Oh, but it's so much fun.

Last winter, I did the things that at the car absolutely needed (G-50 cross shaft update, major tune-up, replacing many of the normally leaking oil seals, CV joints). Over the summer, I did some other little things such as turbo tie rods, 964 decklid w/motorized spoiler, 930 steering wheel, new stereo, Fabspeed pre-muffler, and removed every ounce of AC equipment.

This winter is keeping me busy, and the while your in there thing is just nuts. Here's what going on:
Complete brake system rebuild: (calipers rebuilt, new lines, new pads, new rotors)
Complete suspension rebuild: (22/28 T-Bars, Bilstein sport shocks, ball joints, wheel bearingsElephant Stuff: F + R polybronze bearings, low friction control arm mounts, F + R monoballs, triangulated strut brace)
Body work: RUF front fiberglass bumper (thanks Dane!), removing all rubber form rear bumper

The time spent cleaning and and refinishing parts that haven't been touched in 18 years is endless. All suspension components have either been powdercoated or re-plated.

I got a set of Ruggles scales for X-mas, so I plan on doing my own ride height/corner balance when everything is on. I also have a nice set of freshly refinished 7 & 9 x 16" Fuchs that will replace the 7 & 8 x 15" that came on the car.

Hood, driver door, front & rear bumper are at the body shop now for paint & ding removal).

I'll post some more pics once things start going back together.

Looks like you're tackling quite a bit at one time. Think you'll be ready for the spring drives?

By the way, where did you buy the battery powered rear reflector. I know it has to be the flash, but looks all the world like its lit up with all the electrical wiring hanging loose. :D

Great job, looks like you've got the bug in a bigway. I agree w/ you about all the great people on this board, I'm always learning and being entertained by what goes on here. Looking forward to seeing more
