some sun in the bay area?

i hear from the local weather babe and the national weather service that the sun is suppose to make an appearance this weekend. its about F'ing time eh?

well how about a backroad run this weekend? mines might be kinda strewn with rocks and sluff material from the running wateraccross the road. who has a suggested route? i would like to avoid the hwy 35/9/84 congestion, go a bit more rural.

who, where, and when?

I'll try to make it. Friday is open, booked Saturday, and working the graveyard Saturday night, so I'll need to sleep in Sunday morning some. Looks like anytime Friday, or Sunday afternoon for me.

I'm in for either weekend day and maybe even Friday. How do we make this thread a sticky? If I hadn't heard about this from Cliff, I would've missed it all together.

Smile Jan. 16 fun drive

My friend emailed me this posting.

1/16: ROAD RALLY & BBQ. European car cruise in berkeley!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reply to: escortfrisco@yahoo.co.uk
Date: 2004-12-24, 3:23PM PST

HELLO CAR ENTHUSIASTS!

our last event was real small but some really nice folks showed up.
I have been planning this one for quite some time so here goes!

It's 3 weeks away and the drive will differ from last time, we will have a barbeque at Inspiration point in Tilden regoinal park after the drive/ we encourage all of you to come out for this sunday drive and lunch date!

Apporximate mileage is going be be 25-40 miles total maybe even less, so don't worry about getting stranded if your driving your "project car". A service vehicle with a mechanic, oil and other tools will be with us just in case!

CALLING ALL EXOTICS AND SPORTS CARS OF ERAS PAST AND PRESENT! It's Time for a cruise.

R.S.V.P. and register now with make and model of car.

ALWAYS FREE AND SAFE EVENTS BY: N.W. MOTORSPORTS.

CRAIGSLIST WILL HAVE A POST ON THE EVENT AS WELL
TELL EVRYBODY YOU KNOW!

this is in or around Berkeley hills
WINTER ROAD CRUISE!

SUNAY JANUARY 16th 2005 at ***** 1:00pm SHARP ****

Hello enthusiasts, this is a formal invitation to all exotics, especially Alfa, fiat, maserati owners and other European marques! Porsches are welcome in all their forms and of course the British and French cars are welcome too. The cruise is open to anybody with a sports coupe, sedan or convertible of any European make past or present. I hope a lot of cars come out for this event and I can’t wait to see all of you there.

The last small event I organized was just that, small, but organized!
Thanks to the drivers that showed up with their nice rides, I have a better plan for the cruise this time, and I fully encourage all makes and models to organize in a “mad max”
road take over! Sound interesting? I thought so…

Where and when to meet:

Sunday January 16th 2005, across from the DOUBLE TREE HOTEL, BERKELEY MARINA AT 1:00pm !

We all meet in Berkeley Marina at the across from the Double Tree Hotel, not at the hotel parking lot but at the dirt parking lot adjacent from the hotel. 1pm sharp

When you approach the marina you’ll see a fork in the road. Stay to the right and you’ll see a very large dirt shoulder on the side of the road, there we’ll all line up and wait to leave at our departure time. REMEMBER TO PARK ACROSS FROM THE DOUBLE TREE HOTEL AT THE BERKELEY MARINA!

A white Alfa 1991 164-sport will be the sign that you are in the right place! We will hand out a map at that time with specific directions to and from the end point of our drive.

Where we will go.

We will head up to grizzly peak once again, past the Lawrence hall of science and through the beautiful Berkeley Hills and eventually head toward the Caldecott Tunnel and get off in Orinda. From there we will come back through Orinda in to the south end of Tilden Regional Park and have lunch at a specified picnic area in the park at INSPIRATION POINT, enjoy the view and relax for a bit and have a barbeque.
THE EVENT IS FREE as is the BBQ, how ever, B.Y.O.B and food.

TO RESERVE YOUR SPACE PLEASE EMAIL: escortfrisco@yahoo.co.uk

R.S.V.P. right away with car make and model and I will email you back with a total number of participants the day before we go.

PACK A LUNCH AND BRING SOME SNACKS. A BARBEQUE IS PLANNED AT THE END-POINT!

I like hwy 128 from Napa to Winters because it's in my backyard and there are plenty of twisties and long straights. I know that it's a long way for all of you though.

Yes, it's in the Napa - Sonoma - Solano category and it's called Hwy 128. A really looong road.

The 128 route is a good one, anything in those hills is good. From Napa valley, out to lake Berryessa to Winters. My buddy lives on the lake. Fun stuff except for boaters, even in winter there is fishing......

Tires are ordered, we'll see if they get here in time.

Hijack alert - anyone know of a good shop to get tires mounted that can balance on the inside of the wheel?

there is a good year shop i use on el camino in sunnyvale, just west of sunnyvale ave, on the west bound side. it is right next to the comedy club rooster t. feathers. i have had them take the car, but usually i take the rims off and just run them in.

napa sounds good. what day? we can declare that later in the week, but lets start throwing out preferences. i am a no go for friday, but i do have monday off, marty day ya know. but if you guys want to do friday i can skip it and maybe do something more south with c-beers and the like. dont bag a friday run on my account i guess is what i am saying.

Sounds like Sunday afternoon might work. I get off work at 6am, so I can probably make a noon rendezvous, if that isn't too late in the day.
