265 x16 tire availability?

Shopping on line gets you the Tire Rack and most everything you need. But I keep hearing of tires available that aren't easily found.

Are there tires in a 265/ 275, 40 or 45 / 16 or other weird sizes in a decent street or dot street tire that would fit our cars available from Japan or Europe that aren't listed on Tire Rack?

I would love a set of 225/45/16 and a 265/40/16s both 24" tall like the current 225/45/16 SO3.

Anyone making such a thing in the 255/265/275 range?

255-50-16 are the widest you can get

Tire Rack has VictoRacer V700 by Kumho available in 265/45/16 and are 25.3" tall with 9.9" of tread. I was looking for others in a similar size.

265/45/16 Kumho VictoRacer's are what I normally run at the track..biggest road/tire contact patch I have found for my rear 16x9 fuchs.....

Essentially a 10" wide contact patch on a 9" wide wheel at a decent price for an R rated tire.

not too shabby in my book.

It is worth looking outside the US because there are sizes we don't get here. Most of them don't apply to P-cars though, like 165/45/15 or 195/40/14.

I tried a few quick searches for you and came up with nothing other than the 255/50's and 265/45's you already know about.

FWIW I've been down this researching road looking for roughly the same range you have, Dane. This is one big reason I am going to 17" - where the range of sizes are just huge -

Edit:

You may already know, but you could then have 245/275 in 17" with a precise offset Lindsay set of 17" Fuchs.

The limited selection of smaller tires has been ongoing for years, 1st it was 15s, then 16s and now even 17s.

There are 265/40 and 265/35 x17

and of course the old standby 275/40 x17

Not big fan of 17s on my car having owned several. Which is why I was still looking for 16" tires. Most of the 17" are 25" or larger which is an issue on my particular car.

Good point -

Ya, it sucks as the best fitment on my car is 24 / 24.5 / 25 max.

Bill Verburg 01-19-2005 11:50 AM

265/35 x17 is ~24.3" OD

265/35/ x18 is ~25.3" OD

285/30 x18 is ~25" tall

Curious about this, will a 265/45/16 replace 255/50/16 on a 8" rim, rear of '87 Carrera with no mod's?

rdane 01-20-2005 07:09 AM

The only 265/45/16 that I know of is the Victoracer which is a dot approved race tire. If race rubber works for you check the height, width and appropriate rim size (easy to do on Tire Rack) compared to the tire you run now and then hope for the best.
