The way things work with RideSafely is that you bid on an item, if you win their "auction", they bid by proxy for you in the real auction up to the amount you have previously bid. No guarantee whatsoever that you will get the item.

Hmm, for next to nothing, and just down in T-town, it'd almost be worth spending a few hundred bucks to get my hands on it. Worst case it's a rusty sporto, but if it ran, it could be a decent replacement for the Honda-beater I'm driving now. Anyone else's thoughts?

Good project car if the price was right. I wonder how much it would cost to get a 5 spd in it, maybe 2K?

Cool

Its a sporto. Big brake pedal.

Could be interesting if you had a lot of early parts and patience.

Yea, but it has a texas title by the description, does that mean it was a total or maybe a theft special??

Now if it was a 72S we'd all be lining up wouldn't we???

If that front spoiler is metal, it's worth at least $500... What's up with those seats? High back, cloth, Porsche crest embedded at top..??

Yeah, I'm not so much looking at it as a serious car, like a restoration project, but more like a daily driver. As in, heck, it'd be more fun in stop-n-go than my Honda, right?

I kind of looked sideways at the VIN too. Boy, I'd bid, but I need another project car like I need a hole in the head. I almost hope a good Pelican goes for it, 'coz I hate to see a good car die.

I know what would happen if I bought that car. I do. I'd sell my Honda, and keep that '71 in "just barely running" condition until June, when my next bonus comes in. Then, out of guilt for the abuse of such a wonderful car, I'd spend $25K turning it into a $12K gem. No, sir, I don't need that car.

Can you believe this!

I've got a bid in for $900, ending in a few minutes.

Auction is now extended over 24 hours.

WTF

I wouldn't deal with these guys. Extending the auction and then getting an email this morning that I've been outbid is just plain sleazy.

I realize it's a 2-stage auction, at least that's what they claim, but as a real insurance auction car, this thing would go for $1000 and that's it.

Current bid is $3100 and it's now off the block so clearly someone called them and "made them an offer."

Absolutely Dan. Buying this car was really just an excuse to come out and meet you for a beer anyway, another time.

Bill, if your time is free, I highly recommend buying a car for $3100, transporting it to you for $1000 and then spending 2 weeks dismantling it and then catloging the pieces, taking pictures of each, advertising the pieces and then going back and forth with buyers, taking more pictures and then boxing each piece up...
