I have the 34 mm intake ports, currently rebuilding and have badly pitted exhaust cam lobes on the 1-2-3 left bank... Need cams, considering the 964 grind with spring upgrades.... a waste of time with the smaller intake ports and runners?
What size are the larger ports and runners on the earlier SC`s? Beginning to think I have forgotten over half of anything I ever new about these cars! Buy a bone, get a bone....

34mm intakes are fine if you are keeping the CIS. Larger ports generally help the top end, but the CIS will long run out of breath before you'll see the benefits of larger ports. BTW: The early SC's (up to 79') had 39mm intakes.
964 grind is a good choice if you staying with the stock compression ratio. BTW: 'camgrinder' is the local cam guru. Send him a PM and he'll set you up. Good thread: Elgin "super" SC Cam Grind

Those cams woke up my 3.0....very good for stock CIS and compression....best to go with a more agressive cam if going with carbs and a wilder compression or Pistons...
BTW....if you buy new cams, they need modifications....best to do a regrind.
