shift linkage bushings

on a 78 sc what is the easiest way to get to the shift rod support bushing the one behind the shifter in the tunnel. thanks

If your car is like my 83 then you take the shifter out and the bushing and bracket pretty much come along for the ride. See Wayne's book for very good instructions. Come to think of it I think that those instructions are on this site as well. I found that taking the console and carpet out was more difficult than replacing all of the bushings. I just did mine last month and I can't believe how much better the car shifts.
