Of course if you are going to "mod it up" for her you are going to need some gauges....so she can see all that chipped boost!!
None of those cheesy 2 1/4 inch installs in a 3" clock face either..... Get her some VDOs and put them on the dash... Check operation before....it helps to know your way around an electrical diagram. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1106511008.jpg After...... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1106511059.jpg |

Are those lightweight racing feathers thad?

The downpipe and catalyst add very little HP to a New Beetle, the chip reflash makes a tremendous difference. Go with the APR program; you can then select stock or modified program via cruise control. Very slick.

They have killed the market on my Jetta. I literally have lost all equity in it, not that their was much to begin with. The market for my car which I paid almost $29k for is at $15k now. I have had the car for one year and put 10,000 miles on it. This car has performance, sport suspension and all the gadgets but with the new body style, the only way for me to recoup value is to drive it. Chris |
Is that $229 still available?

Interesting that VW sales are falling, I just test drove an '04 GTI and the WRX. I was much more impressed by the GTI than the WRX. The WRX felt plasticy and cheap especially on the dash where things looked really haphazard to me. The turbo was an all or nothing deal, lots of HP in the upper RPM range, on boost, but nothing below that. The on boost/off boost difference was so bad that I didn't even drive an EVO since they're making just as much HP, from less displacement.
The GTI on the other hand was much more of a joy to drive with a very linear torque band. While it wasn't as fast, it was much easier to drive without having to thrash it and in my opinion a much better daily driver than the WRX. From behind the wheel controls and guages were much better laid out. For my money, I'm going with the GTI(or a 3 series), but for the record I've never been a turbo guy. |

its also everything to do with the driveline, fwd is the work of satan. I will leave it at that i dont wanna take over this thread, just my opinion on it. |
Recent articles on the newest Golf indicate that it is quite good - and that it is about time they returned to a nimble, fun VW.
My wife's 2003 Beetle is a rocket, but is still a Golf in character. Too many years of porky, squooshy handling VWs - |
