Engine oil cooler 3.2

While I am on the subject of engine out. I have noticed a slight seep of oil from the engine oil cooler. Is this a case of simple gasket replacement or could it be something more sinister. Simon.

Most likely simple gasket replacement, do a search, lots of info. Some say a partial drop, others don't. You can clean with brake cleaner fluid and see what gets wet first.

There are 3 seals between the on-engine cooler and the engine. They often develop leaks, very common problem. If you are pulling the engine, it's easy to replace these and a good idea to do it as preventive maintenance.

3.2's leak oil often, especially when they aren't driven very often

When I bought the car there were many oil leaks from various tubes and pipes. I have cured them all, but this one has had to wait until now because of its location. My car has been laid up for the winter at a friend’s garage while I have been carrying out some home improvements. I read with interest the thread about starting after a long period of storage because my car is coming home this week. Well worth considering.
