Sunroof Help !

I am finished with the headliner replacement and am putting back the sunroof. All the hardware and track are clean and all the plastic and felt are new including the little triangle parts that are supposed to lift the rear of the roof into place.

It operates smoothly but when it closes, It doesn't lift that back into a flush position. In checking, I notice that the plastic lifters are well above (3/8") the nubs that are there for them to slide up on. It's like they aren't big enough or that the nubs are too low. Of course the new headliner is all glued in place so I can't tell if those nubs are adjustable and can be raised.

Does anyone have experience with this that can shed some light on it.

Thanks.........

there are adjustment screws there somewhere that you can access whilest the roof is open. try the search feature in the right hand lower area of the thread list page. i would forward details but i forget exactly how to do it.

try searching "sunroof adjustment"

Jim,

Just did mine.

Open S/R about 4". Detach the headliner panel from the leading edge of the S/R panel and push into the roof cavity and then close the S/R.

To adjust the rear of the roof you have to locate the slotted adjustable screw (hard to see when in panel is in car). It is underneath the part of the guide that the cable is crimped into. Loosen slotted height adjustment screw with a flat head screw driver (one on each side of the panel) and adjust the ratchet so the S/R panel is at the same height or slightly higher than the roof.

At the front of the panel there are 2 knurled nuts under the plastic caps (remove these) on each side that can be turned by hand to adjust the hieght of the panel to fit flush.

Good luck.

Hey thanks! That is exactly the same problem I've been having with the old E after I had the sun roof out.

By the way - the Bentley manual was a big help. Well worth the price and available from our host.

You know, I tried that and the result was a S/R that wouldn't
open at all. The only way it will operate is if I leave those slotted screws in the back, you spoke about, a bit loose.

Am I missing something????

Loosen them, set them all the way to the bottom and then move them up incrementally.
