I feel stupid but......

Sorry for the stupid question:

I just rebuilt my LF wheel - new shocks, tie rod ends, bushings, ball joints, brakes lines/hoses, tire ect. When I took the thing apart, I noticed a washer that looked like it was made perhaps out of nylon - and now I can remember where it goes. It was a spacer, and it was black and was about an inch and a half in diameter and about a half an inch wide.

I looked at my local Porsches dealers exploded view and it wasnt there. but I am SURE it belongs either inside the strut cover, outside the strut cover inside the thrust bearing, or outside the thrust bearing - at the top of the strut tower.

Does anyone know what I am talking about? Abd do you know where it goes?

Thanks!

Kelly,

Are the struts by any chance Red-Orange Konis? Does the nylon washer have radial grooves on one side ... if so, that is the side that goes down!

I can't seem to find it in the front suspension section, but I believe Konis have them at all four corners ... #40, an anti-wicking washer that fits under the rubber bump stop on the strut, just as you guessed, under the strut cover/dust cap:

Is it possible this was a spacer on top of the shock? I had boges on mine originally, but can't remember for sure the part you are talking about, sorry....
