Slightly off topic- has any one seen one of these before?

I've come accross this a couple of times this week. Has anyone seen one in person? I think this would be a blast to race on the weekends. And heck, if I blow an engine... it's just a motorcycle engine.

Fellow Pelican Tom Tweed just bought himself something like that. Sounds like a lot of fun, lotsa power, sequential gearbox, very light...

I'm thinking its a Radical, with the Suzuki 1300 Hyabusa engine making around 180HP. I believe they're around $75k base price.

Similiar type cars include the Diazo ( spelling), center seat, Motorcylce engine.

My first DE instructor had one, I think he told me it weighed about 1200lbs, cost around $45K.

He ws having a lot of fun.

That's a Stohr , which has won D-Sports Racing title at the Runoffs for the last couple of years. It looks like they are going for about $66K or so. One even came in 3rd in C-Sports Racing (for cars with up to 1600 cc motors) in spite of running in DSR configuration with a 1000 cc motor. Right ahead of (Chad McQueen BTW, yes -- that Chad McQueen) in a similar car.

These are not a one-design DE type design like the Radicals started out, but pretty much a chassis that was designed from the get-go to win in DSR. A very trick piece of equipment if you ask me.
