De-anodizing window trim

I've read a lot of posts about de-anodizing Fuchs using oven cleaner or lye solution, but would the same methods apply to door window trim? I have a Carrera with the black anodized trim, but would like to backdate to the polished aluminum look.

Also, what's best for maintaining the polished look? Clearcoat? Just keep it polished? Other?

Thanks

The lowest maintenance way would probably to clear anodize the trim after it's been polished.

call up and anodizing shop and see what they have to say. clear anodizing is fine i believe that is the stock way to do it. clear powdercoating will leave a lot more material than anodizing does, yes anodizing actually puts material on, a teeny, tiny bit. The powdercoat will have more of a clear coat look to it. The great thing about powdercoating is how tough it is, all of my mountain bikes are powdercoated and see tons of abuse and have almost no damage to the "paint". up to you.

Can you let us know which method is the best you find for removing the black coating.... thanks A.
