Porsche Crest Central Texas Engine Drop on 2/27, Sunday

I've got to drop the motor out of my dear again. Is anyone interested in coming to Central Texas (just East of Waco) to watch, drink, listen to music, and just relax? This could be a learning experience if you have never done this before, heck I should be learning new stuff too!!!

Anyway, the wife cleared the way and I'm going to do it!!!

sounds like fun... if the weather is nice, i would like to pop in for a lesson. Seems like Waco is about the half-way point between Dallas and Austin, so you might get a good turn out.

Send me a PM with the directions

Why are you dropping the engine? Wish I could be there.

Joe,

You are correct, as usual!!

Murphy's if I can find it again in Waco, Guiness, Shiner, Woodchuck, some Mead, and I can get some whiskey! Oh, my treat!

I'm about 40 miles East of Waco, much easier to get to from Dallas and Houston. According to my wife, we are two hours from DFW and IAH. She travels alot because of her job...

Jamie,

Thanks!!

All,

I'm trying to figure out why the poor dear bled out her life blood on the highway and see what damage has been caused. I hope there are no carnage photos to follow

Hey David,
I might be able to make it up that way sunday if the weather's nice. Been meaning to get out for a drive anyway (I missed one last weekend b/c of work... argh). I need to drop my engine to fix some leaks one of these days, so a lesson would be a bonus.

Do you have any backroads recommendations to avoid the monotony of I35?

John,

Are you East or West of Austin? There are some great roads West of Austin that I've driven but I can look up the roads to the East as well. I'm about 40 miles East of Waco, so back roads are the best way from Austin. (I-35 is a horrible little road for those that don't know!)

I'm up on the northwest side. About halfway between Round Rock and Cedar Park. Any suggestions to avoid 35 would be greatly appreciated.

John,

I'll dig around my map tonight and get you a better route than I-35. There are some really nice Farm to Market roads out there!
