New cage and cell mount
I thought I would share some pix of the new cage and fuel cell install. The cell sits in 1" steel welded in angle. The angle should stiffen the front end also.

Cool! What size (G) is your cell? I can't read the markings on my monitor.

The fuel cell is a 17 gallon enduro model. It fits in the nose fairly well for a square peg on a round (sorta) hole.

Did you do your own tube bending?
I noticed that you are just up the road from Louisville....any chance I could get some assistance when my dipped shell needs a cage ? ? ? C2

Nice work...but what about water ingress? I would think a racing car should be as water-tight as can be, too....no?

2 questions:
-Do you plan on closing the hole for the original fuel tank? Makes me think of running with an open umbrella... -Where will you fit the oil filter? |

The cage was done by two great guys in Anderson, IN. They and their dad are renowned for their Corvair race cars. (I have one of those too). They do all of their bending on a quite well done home made hydraulic bender. I would be glad to put you in touch with them.
The hole in the front under the fuel cell will be closed off with some .025" aluminum. The oil filter will be on a seperate mount up in the nose. Probably in the front right, as the fuel pump and fuel filter will be mounted in the area of the original battery. |

Looks like you will be much safer now.
Agree need a cover under your fuel cell, fiberglass covers are available or just cut the bottom out of the old tank. Perhaps the oil filter was relocated when the sump was moved up front? Any thought about running a couple short bars to the rear shock mounts from the rear legs. Maybe a lighter material X on the rear legs? I'd make the X horozantal and attach it to the main hoop about where your seat belt bar is. Helps keep the weight lower that way. Looks like fun post more updates. |

I was thinking the same thing Ted. Looks great but i wonder about the shock towers. In a high speed bump most of the force into the chassis would be transmitted through the shock.
