SC Question light washers
Does anyone know if the early 911sc's all had headlight washers as standard equipment?
Mine has the washers, but they are not hooked up, and there is no washer switch inside the cabin. I doubt porsche would have the jets on the bumper bar, if you didn't order headlight washers. Wondering if it is the original bumper bar thats all. |
No washers here. Definitely not a standard item in the US.

The headlight washers only work if the headlights are on and the switch to turn on the washer is the same switch use for the windshield.

I would guess someone may have replaced the bumper and installed one with washers. The switch is on the instrument panel, to the right of the speedo or tach, I don't recall which.
The headlight washer pump is located in an indentation in the reservior in front of the left front wheel. You should be able to see it if you crawl under there. It's a large silver cylinder. Looking for this might help you determine if someone actually converted your car (less the dash switch), or just installed a bumper with nozzles. |
Definately an option.

For the 74-83 cars with headlight washers, the washers were controlled by a separate high-pressure pump which was located in the trunk area near the battery. There is also a separate swith to operate them.
The washer pump was moved to be integrated with the washer fluid tank in the left front fender well starting in 84 (Carreras). The tank was redesigned to accomodate the new recessed fog lights. |
