How To Get CHT Wire to Engine
Is there an easy way? I don;t see any openings at all.

Hey John, do you mean from the passenger compartment? If so, I have an LM1 setup and found a large grommet in the driver side rear passenger footwell. A few inches up the rear vertical wall(just about where a passenger's heels would be. Nicely shielded from the elements.

John,
Along the tunnel under the carpet and into tunnel at coupler access cover ... out with the speedo wires and along the top of the transaxle. Hopefully the cable that came with the gauge and thermocouple probe are long enough, because it is very important to use the same type of [J, K] thermocouple wire all the way from gauge to probe! If the cable isn't long enough ... there are extension cables available from Omega, Aircraft Spruce, etc. |
I would run from engine up, install new sensor, (important) cut old wire at base of old sensor, tape new wire to that and gently pull conector end of sensor up thru engine, clip male / female together.
If that makes sense. |
rc,
I think John is asking about a CHT gauge installation, not replacement of the old NTC resistor sensor for a DME. |
Sorry, I just jumped right in, I was spinning off the pic post.

It is a CHT gauge installation. I have my carpet out so I have a clear shot back to the engine. I purchased the extension wire so I have plenty of length. I just don't see a good access spot. There are a few grommits, but they are old and hard and on top of the tranny.
