Broken airbox....what are my options?
While replacing my oil pressure light switch, I removed my airbox to find the back side of it broken along the two clips. I felt that area this time last year while replacing my air fliter and it felt fine. Must be the combination of the weight of the breather lines hanging off the side of it and the tension of the clips.
So, what are my options? A new airbox from Pelican is about $250. Or should I try one of the AireTEK High-Performance Intakes that Wayne sells? http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1107021240.jpg Does anyone have any opinions about this type of intake? Will it effect my SteveW chip? (93 octane, euro bypass chip) Thanks for your time Weaver |
I'd say your options start with duct tape, if it's really broken in the back where no one can see it. You could also glue it (gorilla glue and any number of other types). Then you could go ebay for a new (used) one ($50-$150), or you could explore different filters. Not sure how it would affect the chip, but from what I've heard, 3.2s are pretty much getting all the air they can through the factory intake. People's experiences indicate that the only thing cone type filters allow more of is dirt.

They pop up in the Pelican classifieds on and off. Like Jgordon says between $50-$150.
