Another RSR Clone Project - Update 7

The body and fab work on my project is complete and next week the car will be coming home to me for completion. The progress over the last two weeks includes the headliner, roll bar, carpeting and graphics. The guys at AA have really outdone themslves on this.

I've finalized my plan for the 3.0 L engine. This week I purchsed a new set of Mahle 95mm 10.5:1 P&C's from Andial, a set of twin plug heads from AA and I am having the Bosch dizzy rebuilt to twin plug specs by Gerry Woods. I'll be using the PMO 46mm with 36mm venturis and the DRC-60 cams from our own Camgrinder (DRCams).

I am starting to think that I can have the car ready to show in the Parade Councours in Hershey at the end of June and be on the track by July.

Beautiful. Is it possible to add another 'R' to the 'Carrera RS' graphic on the tail?

cowtown 01-29-2005 03:50 PM

Wow. That will be a beautiful machine. What are you planning to do with the car once it's built?

One of the most sanitary I've seen. Tell us more about the blank offs in the turn signal openings. That doesn't look like just tape.

Yellowbird RS 01-29-2005 09:34 PM

sweet!!

Guys

Thanks for all your comments. They continue to inspire me to finish this project ASAP.

The headliner is standard vinyl. The RSR's had a funky kind of headliner material. I guess it looks like carbon fiber in the photos. The RSR's had the same graphics as the RS's did. I am making this car look like an original factory RSR as much as possible. The rollbar was fabricated by AA. The hoop and diagonal cross brace replicate the RSR. We added the extra side braces along the doors for safety. The blanks for the turn signals still have to be cut out and the signals added along with the headlamps. In one of the photos, Jim Newton is walking by. His shop is just incredible with all kinds of of 356 and 911's in variuos staes of restoration and race build-up. My car is intended to be a combo street hotrod/DE Track Car/Vintage Race car.

Well it's time to go back into the gagreg to do some inspection on my rocker bores and shafts. The engine is ready for the nmachine shop.

Tom;
Can you show more pics of the body, engine bay area and trunk. Jim's paint is flawless isn't it?
