2.2T engine questions?

Hello all,

914er here (mutt of the crew but proud non the less) http://www.daybydayco.com/car4web/914.html for those interested in a visual.

I am looking at a 2.2T spec engine for purchase and.............need to know of its worth? I know it has Zeniths, bosche distributer and updated tensioners and has been maintained (so the owner says) Are there any big issues with such an engine that I should look for when I see it (it will run in this guys drive but the car is "not street legal") Also I belive 125HP @ 8500RPM is the output but my 4 banger with current mods gives me that!! (minus 1500 RPM) Is an upgrade to "E" or "S" spec an easy thing or should I look for a different engine? I really like to go FAST.....not that you all understand that.....LMAO

Thanks
Joshua C.

Not 8500 RPM. You'd need a ton of very expensive mods as in rods and bolts, not to mention valve train to see 8500. 125 HP in a 6 is a different animal and sound. A totally different feel.

That four might get around pretty good, mine wanted to and I could feel the power. But the 6 will be more fun and reliable, I dare say.

As far as the value, that motor could very well sell for up to 3K. It'll cost you another 5K to install it in your 914. I didn't believe that 2 years ago, but I do now.
