Bite the bullet and send them to Al Reed. Yeah, you'll have to pay shipping across the country, but his work is impeccable. I think I paid about $50 to ship four Fuchs from LA to Missourri via Fed Ex ground, so if you're only shipping two from NJ to California, the cost should be a bit more, but tolerable.

Wheel Colllision Center (Bath, PA) is a bit closer with an excellent reputation.

FWIW, I've been to a couple of the local wheel refinishers in the Essex/Morris area and their work was horrible. Judging by the amount of work in their shops they weren't going hungry.

Hey Souk :

Look at this thread..especially toward the end.... ( RSR finish)

Has anyone had their Fuchs reanodized by Al Reed? Results?

Any chance you can do this ? PM me with details / cost, if you can. Thanks !

I had three of my four hollow spoke Technology wheels refinished by Wheel Collision in Bath, PA (a little north of Allentown, PA) and am very happy with the job.

They are very nice people. If you are not hung up on having the wheels that came with your car, they may have replacements that have already been done.

Try Sports Car Tire out of Wilmington, Delaware. They refinished a set of RUF wheels for me and they came out like brand new.

I found Wheel Collision to be highly overpriced. I had 4 Fuchs, (3 of which were completely polished and 1 with polished lip and petals) which I wanted painted to the original configuration. The polish job on the wheels was so-so, but I figured I could get away with just the painting.

Since I work about 3 miles from them, I brought the wheels over at lunchtime to get an estimate. The woman I spoke with had an "I-could-care-less" attitude, quoted me $135 per wheel, paint only, no touching up the polish, said the paint would probably not stick to the polished wheels, they couldn't gaurantee it, etc., etc.

I shipped them to Al Reed, had all 4 re-polished and painted, and I got a spectacular result for $75 per wheel. Total shipping was less than half the difference in price between Al and Wheel Collision.

Wheel Collision seems to like to play the "only game in town" card, judging by what some guys I know have been charged.

WHeel collision is quoting $813 for 15x6s on their site. That's enough for me to run like hell.

Hmmmm! My call to WCC to ask a few questions was pleasant... they gave me pricing and all the information I needed, and I can drive there from where I am. On the other hand I've barely heard a bad thing about Al Reed, but have to deal with possible shipping mishaps/damage. Since I really just need a repaint on my Tech Wheels I think either would probably do a fine job... I'll call Al for pricing and baseline the shipping.
Let you all know what I conclude Thanks for all the input.

Uhh, that $813 per 15x6 is the "factory list price."

They charge $325 outright or $300 "exchange."
