High torque starter
Do those of you with high torque starters like them, and have they been trouble free? I'm a big believer in Bosch, but if the ht is a good one...

I love mine. Trouble free, sounds better, and is much lighter.

What do they cost vs. Bosch and where do you find them?

Lightweight Starters
They cost new somewhere around $250 and Pelican Parts has them. I'm going to get one for my '69.

Triple ditto - works well with 11.3:1 3.6.
Much better built - more of a 'piece' than the sheetmetal encased old-tech Bosch

I agree with jaker. Much better than factory. Never a problem with mine. It cranks faster, the car starts much better... and bonus... it is considerably lighter.

Not sure, don't think it's Tilton. There's some info if you search.

Like all other known facts in the universe, it is on Thom's web page rennlight.com -- look in the spreadsheet I compiled there, it'll be under the engine tab.

I don't know how the prices compare, but Tilton does seem to be the class act. I believe the others are modified/adapted Japanese motorcycle starters. MyTilton works just fine.

Picture of IMI HI TQ starter. This is the same starter motor and gear reduction that is used to start most of the NASCAR racers.
