Ball joint question
I just finished building my RF wheel - new rotors, rblt calipers, tie rod ends, wheel bearing, hose, blah, blah, blah The very last thing I did was to get under the car and toghten down the ball joint nut.
As I'm doing this, I notice there is no tabs on the ball joint to attach the star shaped washer and cotter pin to! I know I should have noticed this before now, but perhaps they broke off during the build. Anyway, what I did was apply threadlocker blue to the threads of the nut and tightened it up really tight. I thought I could maybe figure out a way to attach the star shaped washer w/o taking the ball joint out and buying a new one. Anyway, my question is this: Does anyone know of a way I can attach the star shaped washer to the ball joint? I *really* dont want to take the whole thing apart. Also, do you guys think the threadloacker will be OK to hold it if I cant find a way to attach the star shaped washer? Seems like threadlocker would be at least as good as that little washer and tiny cotter pin. Thanks! |
Is there enough sticking up to drill and safety wire?

Those tabs and the large 'star' washer make for a pretty solid locking mechanism.

Yeah, maybe I'll do that. There is a small tab on one side. I think I wil sleep on it. I did think I could tack weld it on........

just make sure its secure - you could be dead otherwise....
