New Boxster S really is a 'Porsche'
Being in the market for a new Porsche...I test drove the Boxter S yesterday and came away very impressed.
It was actually a lot like my 86 Cab, in terms of the feel and response. This was cool. The Boxster S, at 286 hp is surprisingly fast. The torque is very even throughout the power bands...and you can get a nice kick in the pants type starts. The clutch and tranny are very smooth and feel fantastic....much like my 86 clutch does...and similar to the 915 in feel, without the dreaded notchiness. Handling is amazing... The salesperson encouraged me to light it up a bit and I took a sharp curve going pretty fast...the car just hugged it all the way.... Interior is pure quality. Great fit and finish. My only complaint are the plasticky rear and front exterior panels... and the plasticky mirrors. All the 911s have them too. This is going to be a popular car. See pics. I drove the Midnight Blue one. Your secretary will be driving the silver one. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I gotta say the new 911 and boxster are both better than the old. The old headlights were horrible, but the new shapes help a bunch.

I think it look's pretty good, they still look "related" but not too much alike.

Did you see the write-up in the latest Road & Track for 'Best Sports Car'? Impressive results. I had an '01 Bosters S and loved it but the new one is even better. If your secretary does buy the car, there is a good chance she will beat you around the track.

My neighbor just bought the new Boxster S. Even the plain Jane model he has (hardly any options) kicks a$$. The price is pretty reasonable too for a brand new model. I think he said he paid $59K before T & L.
