Newbie What's This Question (pic)

Hi,

I've never really worked on cars, but I am pretty good mechanically and have been learning a lot from this forum and Wayne's books. I think I'm comfortable at the (2) mechanics icon level in 101 Projects and am ready to tackle some of them after our upstate NY winter storage ends.

Can anybody please tell me what I highlighted in the image below (1977 911S with 2.7)? I haven't seen this in any of the engine pictures I've seen here and in Wayne's books.

Thanks, Howardhttp://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1107182806.jpg

If thats a 2.7 then it has the smog pump and heater plumbing and heater blower motor of a 3.0?

That's what I was thinking. Smog pump didn't come in till the 3.0 in 78. Is is possible this is a 3.0 engine? Why would someone retrofit a smog pump onto an older car unless California had rules in 77?

Tell your friends " Thats the Turbo! "

My '77 2.7L had all that same stuff on it when I bought it. The reactors were gone so I pulled the air pump and air injector plumbing. Plugged the cylinders where the injectors were.
