The valence and fog lamp are easy fixes (Kevin P73 can take care of both, no doubt). The important things are (a) you're OK, and (b) the car is relatively unscathed with no permanent harm done it would appear.

That's horrible news, glad your ok. I only had road garbage hit me once and it was in my old Chevy, somebody's metal hubcap sliced my muffler. It sounded pretty cool but bad for the environment. The cardboard must have hit pretty hard to do that kind of damage. Although if you have comprehensive on your insurance, you should be ok even though you shouldn't have to pay for it.

A major bummer, but could have been much worse.
You got off relatively easy, I bet both are fixed for less than the price of my old windshield or much, much less than the results of nostatic's unfortunate incident. Remember that, he ran over a large piece of concrete that tore several gashes and left several creases along the bottom of his car. Ugly stuff.

A few years ago, I managed to dodge a dining chair sitting in the fast lane on the freeway in Las Vegas. Must have fallen off a delivery truck. Either that or they're putting more buffets in places unimaginable in earlier days.
Once upon a time, I ran over an extension ladder in one of our freeways, but it was in a Vega. I hope the ladder was okay. Sonic, I hope the damage is relatively minor. Sherwood |

That's a Micky Fickin' bummer-I hate this kind of stuff.
A few months ago, I SAW a good sized rock headed to my front lid-I spaced on it, and watched the entire trajectory until it hit. I probably could've swerved if not mesmerized.

Many an aluminum ladder has met their fate on the 5 freeway.
One of the funniest things I've seen. (taking into account my sadistic sense of humor) was when I was coming down Laurel Canyon one night with a buddy when he hit a pothole and blew both of his right tires. We coasted down to a Chevron station at the bottom of the hill since there was no place to pull over and there we found two other cars with blown right tires. Business was booming for the Chevron guy. Fortunently for my buddy we both drive MBZ so we had two spares between us.

Perfect excuse for a Ruf style front valance. Skip the fog lights, get an oil cooler instead.

Quite the drag. Best of luck fixin her up.
A much smaller annoyance are those plastic bags floating around that like to go under your car and melt on the exhaust/exchangers. And trying to avoid a bouncing runaway tire at 60 mph in a vw bus ain't much fun either.

I've had my share of collisions with road debris. You ought to see the display case at the tire shop I go to. Amazing what he has pulled out of tires. A pair of pliers (yes!) and a spark plug caught my attention. |

Just be glad you and the car are both ok. I took a day off a good few months ago and didn't know what to do with myself. So I decided to go for a drive Up Big T. On the way up the 2 fwy a metal object fell off the back of a welding truck and I couldn't avoid it and broke my RUF rim. A CHP was right behind me but he was looking the other way and didn't see anything fall off that truck. There was nothing he can do but to let the other guy go. He said nice wheels, I an sure you can find a replacment at the dealer. Almost a thousand bucks later, I got one from a guy in Kansas. Man was I pisssed.

Those freeways are a war zone.
A few years back a larger truck had a blow out going the opposite direction from me on the 405 (back when they had the chain link fence and not the concrete divider). The metal ring that holds the tire on the rim (about two feet in diameter and weighing about 30+ pounds) continued down the freeway and came through the fence and struck my old 69 911S. I was in the fast lane doing 70. It crushed the front fender and pierced the hood. I was lucky it stuck in the hood, it would have decapitated me. I got the company name off the truck and they paid for the repairs. Be careful out there. Tinker |

geez....fricking flesh wound. Cracked fog lamp lense and tweaked valence? Call me when you have something worth complaining about.
![]() You should ditch the fog lamps anyway...its just extra weight. |

Glad to hear you're all right.
Remindes me of the day after I bought my 930, when I was cruising to work on I-5 into Seattle. The day was sunny and clear, and as I was enjoying the warm weather, I noticed that something was bouncing down the road, coming in my general direction. It turned out to by one of those x shaped tire irons - spinning end over end and bouncing down the freeway - headed right towards me. Unfortunately, there were cars on both sides, so I couldn't swerve out of the way. The tire iron bounced just in front of my car and smacked into my car's bumper right in front of me, then spun up and over the top of the car. Needless to say, I then let out a huge sigh of relief, then wondered what happened to the cars behind me, but couldn't see anything, then became really pissed because my new ride got bashed the day after I bought it. Left quit a little dent in the front bumper. But I am thankful that the tire iron hit the bumper and not the windshield (and me). Doug

Many people drive around with no licence, let alone insurance in this town. We are the only the only foolish ones to buy'em. Since the accident with the metal object, I think there are more trash flying around our freeways. It sure seem like all that trash are aiming at my 911.
